Russia first used 'Chernika' drones in Kharkiv: characteristics of UAV

The Russian forces have for the first time used strike drones of the 'Chernika' series to attack the city of Kharkiv. These drones had not been used in battle before and are now being produced in large quantities. This is reported by 'Glavkom' citing Defense Express.


According to information from Defense Express, the range of 'Chernika' drones includes two types - the light 'Chernika-1' and the heavier modification 'Chernika-2'.



Russia has been using these drones for a certain period of time. Currently, over 7,500 units of 'Chernika-1' and over 4,000 'Chernika-2' have been produced.



Specifications


The kamikaze drone 'Chernika-1' is small in size and made of foam. It can operate at a distance of up to 80 km at a speed of about 75 km/h and a maximum flight altitude of 1.5 km.



In turn, 'Chernika-2' carries a larger warhead weighing up to 3.5 kg and has a range of up to 100 km. This drone has additional features for target refinement, autopilot, and can operate autonomously without constant operator control.
