Russia is losing utility networks: millions of people are left without heat and water

Мільйони громадян опинилися без тепла та води через проблеми з комунальними мережами в Росії.

Problems in Russia's Housing and Utilities

The Russian Federation is facing serious problems in the housing and utilities sector as the number of accidents in heating and water supply systems rises. This is due to the degradation of infrastructure, which is in turn caused by the funding of the war against Ukraine. Millions of people are left without adequate heat and water, creating a dangerous situation for residents in various regions of the country.

Accidents and Their Consequences

In the Irkutsk region, an accident at a thermal power plant (TPP) left over 160 thousand people without heat. In Novosibirsk, dozens of residential buildings were without heating due to a break in the heating pipeline, which has also caused outrage among residents. In Tyumen, a series of accidents in the heating networks continue to undermine the reliability of the heating system.

Moreover, in the Rostov region and the Stavropol Territory, there are mass interruptions in water supply, further complicating life for local residents. According to experts, 42% of nearly one million kilometers of utility networks in Russia urgently need replacement. These problems indicate the critical condition of municipal infrastructure and the threat to millions of people who rely on these systems for their basic needs.

The situation with utility systems in Russia threatens not only comfort but also the safety of the population. Given the rising costs of military actions, the priority problem of funding state needs, such as ensuring the vitality of the population, becomes significant. In conditions where large parts of the country are suffering from a lack of adequate heat and water, the issue of infrastructure restoration becomes increasingly urgent.
