Critical Infrastructure Under Siege in Ukraine
Across multiple Ukrainian regions, crews are working to repair critical infrastructure damaged in relentless attacks. Throughout January, Russia launched a concentrated assault on Ukraine's energy grid, railways, and other vital systems, employing a mix of drones, guided aerial bombs, and missiles. The scale of the assault was massive, with Russia firing over 6,000 attack drones, approximately 5,500 guided aerial bombs, and 158 missiles of various types. Virtually all strikes were aimed at destroying critical infrastructure, resulting in widespread devastation. These attacks are part of a broader strategy to cripple Ukraine's economy and civilian resilience.
Ongoing Threats and the Urgent Need for Air Defense
The situation remained tense just last week, with Russia deploying more than 980 attack drones and nearly 1,100 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine, in addition to two confirmed missile launches. These actions demonstrate a continued Russian effort to disrupt logistics and transportation links between cities and communities. The urgent need for robust air defense is paramount, as the threat from aerial attacks persists unabated.
