Drone Strike Hits Monastery in Kherson Region

Russian forces carried out an FPV drone attack on a men's monastery located in the Kherson region, resulting in the death of one cleric and injuries to four others. This assault is part of a broader campaign targeting critical and civilian infrastructure across several regions of Ukraine, including Kharkiv, Sumy, and Odesa. Residential buildings were also struck in the Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia areas, while the regions of Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Cherkasy have faced similar attacks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that within a single week, Russia launched over 2,000 attack drones—most of which were rocket-powered. In addition, 1,700 aerial bombs and 19 missiles of various types were deployed.

“There were strikes on critical and civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Odesa. Residential buildings were hit in Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia,” President Zelensky stated.

Seeking Support and Strengthening Defenses

President Zelensky emphasized Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to defend against these relentless attacks and urged international partners to intensify pressure on Russia. He highlighted the urgency of implementing new sanctions to make Russia bear the consequences of its war. “This is the right moment to take stronger punitive measures against the aggressor,” he said, calling for more decisive action from the global community.

The monastery attack underscores the increasing frequency and severity of strikes on civilian targets by Russian forces, signaling a possible escalation in the conflict. As Ukraine strives to protect its territory and civilian population, international support remains crucial. The global response to these developments will play a significant role in shaping the conflict’s trajectory and efforts toward regional peace and recovery.

The recent drone strike on a monastery highlights a worrying trend in the ongoing conflict, as Russian forces intensify their aerial assaults on civilian areas.
