Russian Forces Strike Multiple Ukrainian Cities, Including Kyiv and Kharkiv

Російські війська атакують різні українські міста, серед яких Київ та Харків.

Russian Military Launches Coordinated Strikes

In the early hours of February 26, Russian forces conducted a coordinated assault on the Ukrainian cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kryvyi Rih, employing a mix of drones and ballistic missiles. These attacks represent a continued pattern of strikes on civilian areas and have caused significant damage to infrastructure across multiple regions. The ongoing conflict has seen such tactics intensify, particularly during the winter months.

Widespread Damage and Civilian Impact

In the capital, Kyiv, drone attacks were reported as ongoing until at least 04:50. Damage was recorded on the city's left bank, specifically in the Dniprovskyi district, where a store building was hit. Kharkiv also came under fire, with shelling reported in the Kyivskyi, Slobidskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts, raising alarm among residents.

  • Zaporizhzhia was struck, resulting in at least one casualty. The attack damaged shopping centers and a multi-story residential building, where a fire broke out across several floors and one person was trapped inside an apartment.
  • Kryvyi Rih was also targeted, with a 'Shahed'-type drone hitting a five-story apartment block, an incident that has heightened concerns for local civilians.

These strikes underscore Russia's persistent aggression, which utilizes modern military technology to target Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. In the context of the prolonged war, such assaults pose severe risks to public safety and complicate the recovery of regions already devastated by combat.

The need for sustained international support for Ukraine, including humanitarian aid and military assistance, remains critically urgent as civilian casualties and destruction mount.
