Russia unleashed a massive strike on energy: Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions left without power

Внаслідок потужних атак з боку Росії, регіони Дніпропетровщини та Запоріжжя залишились без електроенергії.

Strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure

On January 7, Russian troops struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, resulting in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions being left without power. As a result of the attack, critical infrastructure in these regions is currently operating on backup power sources.

In particular, the city of Dnipro has been completely left without power. In Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, Pavlohrad, and Synelnykove, there are disruptions to electricity, water, and heating. To ensure transportation, Ukrzaliznytsia has switched all trains in the region to backup thermal traction. Train stations that have lost power are being supplied with electricity using generators.

Situation with energy supply

The energy supply situation remains critical, and local authorities are working to resolve the problems related to the consequences of the massive strike.

This attack on energy infrastructure is part of a protracted war ongoing in Ukraine and indicates the strategy of Russian troops aimed at destabilizing the country by destroying critical resources. Restoring energy supply in the affected regions will require time and effort from local authorities, as well as support from the state and international partners.
