Russian troops launched a massive strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, resulting in damage to the Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Vinnytsia regions. Ukrainian energy companies and repair crews are working around the clock to restore the damaged facilities.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the strike was carried out by the Russian army with the use of 52 missiles of various types and over 600 attack drones. As a result of the attack, a significant number of facilities were damaged. A bombing strike on the Slovyansk thermal power plant was also recorded, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to others.
International support and sanctions
In his address, the president emphasized the intention of international partners to support Ukraine in the restoration of the energy system. In particular, Norway will provide assistance in the purchase of gas, while Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands will help with equipment for electricity production. Additionally, cooperation with representatives of the G7 countries regarding support for Ukraine in the energy sector was noted.
Major battles are continuing at the front in various directions, including the Pokrovsk direction and areas adjacent to the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
The events that have taken place indicate a significant blow to Ukraine's energy infrastructure from Russian troops. The attack already has consequences for the country, but fortunately, Ukraine is receiving support from international allies in restoring its energy system. Strategic actions are aimed at restoring damaged facilities and supporting the front to defend the country's sovereignty.
