Russia launched a massive strike on Ukraine: 300 drones and rockets hit five regions

Масштабна атака з боку Росії: 300 безпілотників та ракет вразили п’ять областей України.

Attack by Russian troops on Ukraine January 13

On January 13, Russian troops carried out one of the largest attacks on Ukraine, using about 300 drones and dozens of rockets. As a result of this attack, five regions were affected: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zhytomyr. In particular, the enemy used 293 strike unmanned aerial vehicles and ballistic and cruise missiles 'Iskander'. For their part, the defense forces managed to destroy 247 aerial targets, however, 24 impact sites were recorded.

Casualties and consequences of the attacks

The Kharkiv region sustained significant losses. In the suburb of Kharkiv, 4 civilians were killed and 6 were injured. The attack was accompanied by a large fire covering about 500 square meters at the 'Nova Poshta' terminal. Kyiv and the region also suffered from strikes: emergency power outages were introduced due to damage to electric networks.

  • In the Odesa region, 6 people were injured, two of whom were hospitalized with moderate injuries.
  • In the Dnipropetrovsk region, infrastructure and two private houses were damaged.
  • In the Zhytomyr region, objects in the Korosten and Zviahel districts were under fire.

President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the situation, stating that

“again the main target of the strike is our energy: generation, substation”
He also emphasized that this is already the eighth massive attack on the thermal power plants of the company since October 2025, resulting in 59 power station workers being injured, and 4 killed.

The attack on January 13 once again confirmed the threat posed by Russian troops to Ukrainian energy infrastructure and the civilian population.

This event indicates the continuation of aggression by Russia, which seeks to inflict maximum damage on Ukraine, particularly in critically important areas such as energy. Massive attacks on energy facilities threaten not only infrastructure but also the safety and well-being of citizens, requiring urgent measures to protect and restore the power supply system. In light of this, international partners' support in ensuring defense capabilities and restoring Ukraine's infrastructure is crucial.
