Three-Ton Bomb Destroys Dam, Cutting Off Key Road to Kostiantynivka

Вибух потужної бомби зруйнував греблю, перекривши важливий шлях до Костянтинівки.

Situation in Kostiantynivka

Russian forces have destroyed a dam near the village of Osykove in the Donetsk region using a three-ton guided aerial bomb. The resulting flooding has severely disrupted movement along this section of the front. Water has reached the Druzhkivka-Kostiantynivka road, rendering it completely impassable. This area is a critical logistical corridor in eastern Ukraine, making its disruption a significant tactical blow.

Russian military activity has intensified in the Kostiantynivka direction. Initially, they destroyed a bridge on the northwestern outskirts of the town, further complicating Ukrainian logistics. However, a complete blockade has not been achieved, as Ukrainian forces continue to use alternative routes. The Russian actions have temporarily hindered movement in this sector while they probe the defenses of Ukrainian units along the perimeter.

Use of New Technologies

In a separate development, Russian occupation forces have begun deploying a new type of improvised anti-personnel mine in the Kherson region near the front line. These mines are produced using 3D printing, feature plastic casings, and have specific camouflage, making them harder to detect. Soldiers on the ground report that the dam's destruction has flooded the area, turning the Druzhkivka-Kostiantynivka road section into 'continuous swamp,' which is now impossible to traverse.

Analysts view this as another violation of international humanitarian law, indicating a growing Russian focus on the Kostiantynivka area. They believe targeting logistics in this way could be the precursor to more decisive military actions aimed at severing Ukrainian supply lines.

The events around Kostiantynivka are becoming key elements in the current military campaign, pointing to an escalation in the conflict. The destruction of the dam and the intensification of fighting in the region underscore the strategic importance of controlling transport routes and infrastructure. Furthermore, the new types of mines used by Russian forces highlight a technological evolution in warfare that could complicate Ukrainian defensive operations. This creates fresh challenges for the Ukrainian army in the context of the protracted war.
