Attack on the Dnipro Oil Extraction Plant
Russian terrorists launched an attack on the Dnipro oil extraction plant owned by Bunge. As a result of this attack, 300 tons of oil spilled. The affected plant is part of Bunge's operations in Ukraine, where the company has been active since 2002.
Bunge Global SA is registered in Geneva, Switzerland, and its headquarters is located in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. The company is a well-known oil producer under the brand name 'Oleina'. In Ukraine, Bunge also owns:
- an export port terminal,
- an oil extraction plant in Mykolaiv,
- three elevators.
Statement from the Mayor of Dnipro
The Mayor of Dnipro Boris Filatov commented on the situation, stating that the Russians bombed American property since the plant belongs to the 'Bunge' company from St. Louis, Missouri. He also reported that public services are working on the cleanup, throwing sand and mixtures, but access along the Embankment will be impossible for about 2-3 days.
The attack on the Bunge plant is part of a broader strategy of Russia's aggression in Ukraine, which includes targeted strikes on critical infrastructure. The spillage of a significant amount of oil may have serious consequences not only for the company's economy but also for the food security of the region. The response of local services to the incident and the restoration of access to the Embankment underscores the importance of rapid response in crisis situations arising from military actions.
