Russian troops struck the market in Druzhkivka: at least five wounded

On the morning of August 2, the Russian army struck the market in Druzhkivka, which is temporarily under occupation in the Donetsk region. This was reported by journalist, blogger, and former representative of the Donetsk region in the Trilateral Contact Group Denis Kazansky.



“Druzhkivka. The Russian army struck the market in the morning when it was crowded with people. I can't even imagine how many casualties there are. An absolute nightmare. This is how the subhuman 'helps the residents of Donbas',” noted Kazansky.


Local Telegram channels noted that the attack was targeted at the market and the 'Aurora' store, and at least 10 explosions were heard since the morning. Information about the injured and the destruction is currently being clarified.

According to the head of the Donetsk OVA Filashkin, at least five people were injured as a result of the strikes on Druzhkivka. The city was subjected to a mass drone attack, damaging houses, the market, a store, an administrative building, and destroying vehicles.



According to ISW, the Russians are directing their main efforts towards the Pokrovsk direction in the Donetsk region and the Kursk region, which has been held by the Ukrainian Defense Forces since 2024. Russia may use the seizure of Chasovyi Yar as a strategic advantage for advancing on Ukrainian positions in the Donetsk region.



As a result of the morning strike by the Russian army on the market in Druzhkivka, there were reported injuries and mass destruction in the city. There is a threat of further advancement of the Russians on Ukrainian positions in the region, which underscores the seriousness of the situation in the area.
