Russian Invaders Strike Kharkiv with Drones

Russian forces attacked the city of Kharkiv using Shahed-type attack drones in the early hours of April 2. The assault resulted in a direct hit on a residential building in the city's Kyivskyi district. The impact ignited a fire that spread across the second and third floors of the structure.

Emergency crews from Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES) are currently working at the scene. Two women, aged 61 and 52, are confirmed to have sustained blast injuries in the attack. Both are receiving all necessary medical care. These strikes are part of a sustained campaign targeting Ukrainian cities, which has intensified in recent months.

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration: 'Together with the National Police, we are conducting door-to-door checks to promptly identify everyone who needs assistance.'

Ongoing Attacks and Their Impact

Hostile drones continue to be detected in the airspace over Kharkiv. The April 2 attack also damaged a high-rise building in the Shevchenkivskyi district, where windows were blown out on the ninth floor. As of this report, Ukraine has endured 1,499 days of full-scale war. The persistent use of drones to target civilian infrastructure endangers the population and underscores the critical need for enhanced air defense systems.
