Russian Forces Strike Fire Station in Kramatorsk, Endangering Rescue Workers

Російські війська атакують пожежну станцію в Краматорську, ставлячи під загрозу життя рятувальників.

Fire and Rescue Station in Kramatorsk Targeted

Russian military forces launched an attack on a fire and rescue station in Kramatorsk, damaging the building and emergency vehicles. At the time of the strike, the personnel were sheltering in a safe place, resulting in no casualties. The assault caused significant destruction, shattering windows, damaging the ceiling, and wrecking firefighting and rescue equipment.

A Pattern of Attacks on Emergency Services

This incident is part of a broader series of strikes targeting units of Ukraine's State Emergency Service (SES). Previously, on Rescue Worker's Day, Russian forces hit a fire station in Druzhkivka, Donetsk region, and also attacked SES personnel in the Kryvyi Rih district of Dnipropetrovsk region while they were battling a blaze. These attacks on first responders constitute a violation of international humanitarian law.

  • Strike on a fire station in Druzhkivka.
  • Attack on rescue workers in the Kryvyi Rih district.

It is notable that Russian occupying forces have repeatedly and deliberately targeted SES units in an attempt to cripple rescue operations. Despite these persistent threats, Ukrainian emergency workers continue to carry out their duties and serve their communities.

These events underscore the dangerous and deliberate nature of Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure, which threatens not only the safety of rescue personnel but also the lives of ordinary citizens.
