Russian occupiers deported more than 50 residents of the village of Hrabovske in the Sumy region. The oldest among the deported is 89 years old. This event took place on the night of December 20, when Russian military forces penetrated the village. The authorities of the Sumy region have already evacuated more than 30 thousand people from the region, however, 5700 people, including 38 children, still refuse to leave their homes.
Situation in the region
Dmytro Lyhovyi, a representative of the local authorities, noted that as a result of the enemy attack, the Defense Forces left several positions in the vicinity of the settlement. He also added that almost all residents of Hrabovske had previously refused to evacuate deeper into Ukraine. An investigation into the forced deportation has been initiated, further highlighting the seriousness of the situation in the region.
This situation highlights the complex humanitarian challenges faced by residents of frontline areas of Ukraine. The deportation of civilians is a serious violation of human rights and international humanitarian law. In conditions of war, it is important to continue monitoring and documenting such cases to hold those responsible accountable and ensure the safety of the civilian population.
