Independence Day Address by Andriy Danyk

Ukraine’s top emergency official insists that Russians will never take away Ukrainians’ freedom. In a speech marking the country’s Independence Day, Andriy Danyk, head of the State Emergency Service (DSNS), said independence is expressed in the daily decision to live, fight, and stay free. He also reminded Ukrainians that rescue workers are an essential part of that fight, saving people every day and helping to build a future for children.

Danyk highlighted the everyday realities of that mission:

  • pulling children’s toys from under rubble;
  • lifting people out of danger;
  • putting out fires.
“Every rescued person is not just a statistic. It is a chance to embrace loved ones again,” he stressed.

He expressed confidence that Ukraine will remain strong despite the challenges it faces, thanks to national unity. “We are strong because we are united. We are independent because it is in our DNA. We will stand firm, rebuild every home, and preserve a future for our children,” Danyk said. He ended with congratulations on Independence Day and gratitude to everyone who protects and saves lives.

The address underscores how vital rescue workers are to Ukraine’s security and stability at a time when the country is fighting for its independence. Danyk’s words about unity and resilience capture the nation’s determination to recover and move forward, no matter how difficult the road. Such messages also help keep public morale high and remind people of the true value of life and liberty.

As Ukraine celebrates its resilience, the dedication of rescue workers remains a cornerstone of national security. On the eve of Flag Day, 16 brave members of the State Emergency Service were honored with state awards for their exceptional service. Their commitment exemplifies the spirit of unity and bravery that Andriy Danyk highlighted in his address.
