In the village of Velika Pisarivka in the Akhtyrka district of the Sumy region, a shelling occurred, resulting in damage to the memorial plaques on the Alley of Glory, established in honor of the heroes who gave their lives for the independence of the state. According to the head of the community, Lyudmila Biryukova, this is an attempt not only to destroy memory and spirit but also to devalue the sacrifice of our heroes. As a result of the shelling, not only the monuments were affected, but also residential houses; however, fortunately, there were no casualties. This incident serves as yet another warning about the dangers of Russian aggression in the region.
'They are hitting not only the living. They are trying to erase memory. To break the spirit. To devalue the sacrifice. But every shard of these monuments is a vow that we will not forget and will not forgive,' she emphasized.
The local publication 'Kordon.Media' adds that the shelling of the Alley of Glory occurred early in the morning on August 5. The memorial portraits of the fallen heroes and the monument to the defenders of World War II were damaged. It is worth noting that this is not the first case of such aggression, which appeared back in June at Independence Square in the city of Sumy.
In light of these events, new security measures have also been initiated in the Sumy region: a differentiated air raid alert will now sound only in areas threatened by Russian strikes. This indicates the growing threat in the region and the necessity to strengthen security measures.
