Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine's Southern Defense Forces, has reported that Russian occupation troops received orders to plant Russian flags in rear-area villages. This staged activity is designed to fabricate the illusion of military gains ahead of the anniversary of the full-scale invasion on February 24. According to Voloshyn, the directive calls for placing Russian tricolors in settlements that have long been under enemy control and are situated far from the active frontline.
The order specifically applies to villages in the Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka sectors. Reconnaissance units of Russia's 29th Army are tasked with carrying out this mission, documenting the flag-planting with photos and video even if their attempts fail. Voloshyn stated that these actions aim to create a false narrative of success for Russian propaganda outlets, which seek to portray their forces as advancing and capturing new territory. This tactic is a common feature of modern hybrid warfare, where information operations are as critical as battlefield maneuvers.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian defenders have enhanced their tactical position on the southern front, pushing back Russian forces near Vyshnevoye, Verbove, and Ternove.
