Russian occupiers are blocking IAEA representatives' access to the new dam at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. This complicates control over the water level in the canals and the reactor cooling system, which is critically important given the unstable situation regarding nuclear safety.
'Our access to this dam is very important for assessing the cooling water situation, especially considering the difficult conditions at the ZNPP,' emphasized IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.
Moreover, international observers have difficulty accessing the machine hall of one of the reactor units at the nuclear power plant. Restrictions on access to important facilities of the plant raise serious concerns about nuclear safety, especially in conditions of temporary occupation, where violations in the nuclear sector have already been recorded.
The difficulties in access for international experts to the dam and the machine hall at the Zaporizhzhia NPP raise serious questions regarding the safety of nuclear facilities under conditions of temporary occupation and require immediate resolution of the situation.
