Russian journalist on Kyiv: I live among war, but here I am happy and free

Журналіст з Росії: У Києві, незважаючи на війну, я відчуваю себе щасливим і вільним.

A resident of Kyiv originally from Moscow – this describes Viktoria Ivleeva, who moved to the capital of Ukraine after Russian aggression. Life in Kyiv, even amidst war, has given her a sense of happiness and freedom that she did not experience in Moscow. Her sons have also found their place in Ukrainian society: the elder has successfully adapted, while the younger has devoted himself to volunteering and went to the front as a medic.

Ivleeva compares the cultural and human values of the two capitals, noting the humanity of Ukrainians and the negative influences of Russian cities. For her, Kyiv has become a symbol of dignity and a rejection of rudeness, where she feels comfortable. The interview also included criticism of the Russian regime and reflections on her communications with Shoigu.

Ivleeva made her choice, supported Ukraine in its struggle, found a new home, and breathed the breath of freedom deeply.
