Strikes Target Zaporizhzhia
Russian drone attacks on the city of Zaporizhzhia overnight on March 16 caused significant damage, including fires and damage to residential buildings. The strikes resulted in three people being wounded: an 18-year-old man and two women, aged 48 and 81. Furthermore, over 7,500 subscribers lost electrical power due to the assault.
In a separate incident, a 17-year-old boy who was wounded during a previous Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia on March 14 has died in hospital. This brings the total death toll from that shelling to two, with 21 others injured. These attacks are part of a wider pattern of strikes on Ukrainian cities far from the front lines.
“The enemy attacked Zaporizhzhia. A fire broke out. As a result of the strike, more than 7,500 subscribers were left without power. Energy workers will begin restoration as soon as the security situation allows,” stated Ivan Fedorov.
Massive Assault on the Kyiv Region
Additionally, on the night of March 13-14, Russian forces launched a massive combined assault on the Kyiv region using drones and missiles. Several districts were hit, resulting in further civilian casualties and damage to residential infrastructure. The situation in both regions remains difficult.
These events underscore the continuation of Russia's aggressive campaign against Ukraine, which inflicts severe humanitarian and economic consequences. Restoring critical infrastructure and providing aid to affected civilians remain top priorities for local and central authorities. The ongoing crisis demands sustained attention from the international community.
