Ukraine Hit by Major Drone Assault

In the early hours of April 1, Russian forces launched a large-scale drone attack across Ukraine, targeting multiple regions and causing significant damage and civilian casualties in Poltava. This latest wave of strikes is part of an ongoing campaign targeting civilian infrastructure. The assault impacted not only Poltava Oblast but also several other regions, including:

  • Lutsk
  • Dnipropetrovsk
  • Zhytomyr
  • Kharkiv
  • Odesa
  • Khmelnytskyi Oblasts

The strike on Poltava resulted in six civilian injuries, three of whom were children. The attack destroyed an outbuilding and damaged nearby homes and cars. The home and property of the married couple Dasha Yevtukh and Oleksandr Glazov sustained severe damage, with the roof compromised and windows blown out. Oleksandr Glazov, a former Poltava city council deputy from Petro Poroshenko's Bloc and later a Poltava district council deputy from the Servant of the People party, and his wife Dasha, a popular TikTok and Instagram blogger, survived the traumatic event.

Widespread Damage and Casualties

The April 1 attack proved especially destructive, with Ukrainian authorities reporting a total of 339 Russian drones involved in the nationwide assault. In the Zolotonosha district of Cherkasy Oblast, a drone strike killed four civilians. In Lutsk, impacts damaged a Nova Poshta warehouse and a grocery warehouse for a retail chain, while strikes were also recorded in Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

These events underscore the persistent threat Russian drones pose to Ukraine's civilian population. Such large-scale attacks highlight the intensifying conflict and the growing risks for non-combatants, leading to severe human and material losses. This situation reinforces the critical need for continued international support and efforts to protect civilians in the war zone.

The recent drone strike in Poltava is part of a broader pattern of escalating attacks across Ukraine, with a staggering major assault involving 339 Russian drones impacting civilian sites in several regions. This alarming trend highlights the ongoing threat to Ukraine's infrastructure and safety, emphasizing the urgent need for international attention and support.
