In Kyiv, due to Russian shelling of critical infrastructure, there are interruptions in heating and hot water supply. As of 04:40, the death of four people and 19 injured has been confirmed, most of whom have been hospitalized. Fires and damage to residential buildings, civilian and industrial facilities have been recorded as a result of the shelling.

There is no heating supply or it is at reduced parameters in the following districts:

  • Desnianskyi
  • Pecherskyi
  • Parts of Holosiivskyi
  • Darnytskyi
  • Dniprovskyi
  • Obolonskyi
  • Podiiskyi
  • Solomianskyi
  • Shevchenkivskyi

Metro trains on the 'red' line are operating with changes between the stations 'Akhademmistetky' - 'Arsenalna' with an interval of 4:40-5:00 minutes. Train movement on the open section between the stations 'Dnipro' - 'Lisova' is suspended due to a lack of electricity, while train movement on the 'blue' and 'green' lines remains unchanged.

The Mayor of Kyiv Vitalii Klitschko confirmed information about the deaths of four people, which has tragically resulted from the shelling. In addition, Slavutych in Kyiv region ended up in a complete blackout on the night of January 9. The situation in the capital remains difficult, and authorities continue to take measures to mitigate the consequences of the attacks.

This shelling once again confirms the vulnerability of critical infrastructure in Ukraine and the importance of its protection in wartime. The government and local authorities are actively working to restore heating and electricity supply, as winter requires special attention to ensure the comfort of residents.

At the same time, events in Kyiv may influence the overall situation in the country, specifically on the level of mobilization of resources to ensure security and stability in other regions.
