Actor and soldier Oleksandr Zarubey has recounted a frontline incident where Russian reconnaissance troops, mistaking Ukrainian soldiers for their own after hearing them speak Russian, were taken prisoner. Oleksandr Zarubey signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2024. Prior to this, he was unable to mobilize for a year and a half. When the full-scale invasion began, he joined the territorial defense in Kyiv. Born in the Luhansk region, Zarubey moved to Kyiv 20 years ago. He is also known for his role in the film 'Cyborgs,' which depicts the defense of the Donetsk airport. His other film credits include 'I Am Hope,' 'Life for Three,' 'Fortress,' 'Tykha Nava,' and 'Alive.'
In his account, Oleksandr Zarubey relayed the exchange between the Russian scouts and the Ukrainian soldiers:
