Drone Attack Hits Residential Tower in Darnytskyi District

A Russian drone struck a 24-story apartment building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, impacting the area around the 11th and 12th floors. The attack caused a fire and significant structural damage to the walls on the 12th floor. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that five people were injured, three of whom required hospitalization.

"Currently, four casualties have been reported following the Russian attack on a Kyiv residential building," stated the Kyiv City Military Administration.

Ongoing Wave of Attacks on Kyiv

For over a week, Russian forces have been targeting Kyiv and its surrounding region with drone strikes. Explosions were reported during the night and morning of September 9 across the capital and nearby areas. On the night of September 8, a large-scale assault on Kyiv and its region involved ballistic missiles launched from three different directions. The attacks included missiles and rocket-powered drones, causing fires and destruction in five districts, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.

Later on September 8, the Holosiivskyi district suffered a repeat strike on a warehouse, while in the Solomianskyi district, a drone crashed into another storage facility. The toll from these attacks rose to five fatalities and 29 wounded. Among the damaged properties were media outlets 'My-Ukraine' and 'My-Ukraine+', where employees were injured during the assault. Notably, the TV channel was airing the national telethon "United News" live at the time of the strike.

This series of attacks marks a clear escalation in the conflict, resulting in civilian casualties and widespread infrastructure damage. Emergency responders remain actively engaged in rescue and recovery efforts at the affected sites.

The situation across Kyiv and its outskirts remains highly volatile due to persistent Russian military actions. These events highlight the ongoing dangers faced by civilians and the crucial role of emergency services. It is vital for the international community to recognize the humanitarian impact of the conflict and to provide necessary support to Ukraine during these challenging times.
