94-річна жінка загинула внаслідок удару дрону в Конотопі

Deadly Attack on Konotop

On May 20, Russian forces launched a drone assault on the city of Konotop in Sumy Oblast. A direct hit from one of the unmanned aerial vehicles struck a five-story residential building, killing a 94-year-old woman who lived in the entrance where the drone impacted. Rescue workers recovered her body from the rubble. In addition, 11 people were injured in the attack.

Details of the Assault

Between 01:20 and 04:30 on May 20, Russian troops deployed 12 drones over Konotop. The bombardment caused damage to:

  • 2 private houses
  • 3 apartment buildings
  • five administrative facilities
  • vehicles

A direct strike from an enemy Shahed drone caused three floors of the five-story building to collapse, while the blast wave shattered windows at the city hospital, damaging it.

Law enforcement has launched a pre-trial investigation into the incident as a war crime under Article 438, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Oleh Hryhorov noted that

“the enemy strike left her no chance to survive.”
Most of the injured are elderly individuals, and all are receiving necessary medical care.

This attack occurred amid rising tensions in the region, as Russian forces also struck Vilniansk in Zaporizhzhia Oblast on the same day, targeting a private home.
