Teenager Killed as Russian Drone Strikes Odesa Apartment Building, 58 Evacuated

Під час ворожої атаки дроном на житловий будинок в Одесі загинула неповнолітня, 58 осіб евакуйовані з небезпечної зони.

Drone Attack Targets Odesa District

A Russian drone struck a multi-story residential building in the Odesa district overnight. The attack resulted in the death of a teenage boy, born in 2009, a devastating loss for his family and community. In total, 58 people, including 8 children, were evacuated from the building.

The drone impacted between the 18th and 19th floors of the apartment block but did not detonate. The building's facade and windows were damaged, along with several parked cars. This assault is part of a broader pattern of attacks on the region, as Russian forces also targeted southern Odesa oblast on January 21. That earlier attack injured one person and damaged residential and industrial infrastructure, destroying a warehouse containing furniture.

Response to the Tragedy

"This is a profound loss for everyone," stated Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, expressing condolences to the family of the deceased teenager.

This incident underscores the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine, where civilian areas in southern regions remain frequent targets. Attacks like this highlight the severe risks to non-combatants and raise concerns about further escalation. The local authorities' response, focusing on the human cost and resident safety, is a critical aspect of managing the crisis in the region.
