Дрон РФ вдарив по житловому будинку в Румунії, поранено двох осіб.

Incident in Galați

A drone targeting Ukrainian infrastructure crashed onto the roof of an apartment block in the Romanian city of Galați, sparking a fire that injured two people. Among the casualties are a woman with first-degree burns and a 14-year-old boy who is believed to have suffered a panic attack. Residents were evacuated from the building, and emergency teams from the Romanian police, Ministry of Internal Affairs, intelligence service, and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) responded swiftly to the scene.

The incident occurred during the night of May 29. Romania’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that the drone that hit the multi-story building was Russian. In response to the detection of Russian drones on radar, aircraft and a helicopter from the Romanian Ministry of Defense were scrambled. Romania has since informed its allies and the NATO Secretary General about the circumstances, requesting measures to expedite the delivery of counter-drone systems to the country.

Romania’s Response

Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that

this incident represents a serious and irresponsible escalation by the Russian Federation
. They emphasized that Romania will take the necessary diplomatic steps in response to this grave violation of international law and the country’s airspace. The ministry’s statement further stressed that
the Russian Federation remains an aggressor state waging an illegal war with severe consequences for regional security and the safety of citizens
. Romania also plans to act with maximum resolve to intensify international pressure on Russia, demanding an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire.

Romanian authorities are actively managing the situation to ensure public safety and prevent similar incidents in the future.

This event highlights the growing regional tensions linked to the war in Ukraine and the risks posed to neighboring countries. As a NATO member, Romania continues to seek ways to bolster its defense capabilities and collaborate with allies to counter such threats. The importance of international support in this context is increasingly evident, as regional security directly depends on the collective actions of allied nations.

The escalation of tensions in the region has prompted Romania to take decisive action, including the deployment of military aircraft. This incident highlights the ongoing threat posed by Russian drones, as seen in a recent event where F-16 fighters were scrambled in response to a similar situation. Such developments underscore the urgency for Romania to enhance its defense capabilities amidst rising regional instability.
