Russian Attack on Kherson Region Kills 1, Injures 11 Civilians on April 14

Смертельний обстріл Херсонщини: один загиблий та одинадцять постраждалих мирних жителів 14 квітня.

Assault on Kherson Region

On April 14, Russian military forces launched an assault on the Kherson region, employing artillery and drones. The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office confirmed by 5:30 PM that this attack resulted in one fatality and injuries to eleven civilians, stating

“one person died as a consequence of Russian aggression, and another 11 sustained injuries”
. The Kherson region, partially occupied since the early stages of the 2022 invasion, remains a frequent target for such strikes.

The attacks caused significant destruction across a wide range of civilian infrastructure. Damaged structures included:

  • private houses and apartment buildings
  • administrative buildings
  • hospitals
  • educational institutions
  • stores
  • utility buildings
  • garages
  • vehicles

The prosecutor's office detailed that

“private and multi-apartment buildings, administrative buildings, hospitals and educational institutions, a store, utility premises, garages and motor vehicles were damaged”
.

In a separate incident the previous day, on April 13, Russian forces targeted an ambulance in the city of Kherson, injuring two medical workers. The city has also seen the deployment of new Russian remote-controlled anti-personnel mines, known as 'Pryanyk' or 'Plyushka', indicating an escalation in aggressive tactics by the occupying forces.

Further details from the April 14 bombardment reveal several specific incidents. An FPV drone struck a city street, killing a woman and injuring a man nearby. That same morning, another resident of Kherson was wounded under similar circumstances. A separate drone strike hit a medical facility in the regional center, wounding four hospital staff members.

The attacks extended to other settlements within the region. In Komyshany, artillery fire injured two women. In Nadiivka and Bilozerka, drone strikes on residential buildings wounded two more civilians. In Velyka Oleksandrivka, a woman sustained moderate injuries from the debris of an attack drone.

Regional Situation

The situation in the region remains tense, with local authorities continuing to document the consequences of the aggression and provide aid to the victims.

These events underscore the persistent violence in Kherson Oblast amid the ongoing conflict. The critical need for humanitarian aid and support for victims is increasingly evident, as the shelling inflicts severe damage not only to infrastructure but also to human life. While local authorities strive to respond promptly to the population's needs, the overall situation remains severe.

As the situation in the Kherson region continues to deteriorate, recent reports indicate that the violence is not isolated. On the same day as the attack on April 14, Russian strikes also targeted Odesa, resulting in additional casualties and injuries.
