June 2 Attack on Kyiv
A large-scale Russian assault in the early hours of June 2 caused damage to several cultural sites in Kyiv, including the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studio. The attack resulted in significant destruction of buildings and infrastructure, such as shattered windows, a punctured roadway, and damage to a heating main and sewer system. Six people were killed, and over 79 were injured.
Citywide Impact
The strike affected not only the film studio but also eight districts of Kyiv, including Shevchenkivskyi. Targets included:
- residential buildings,
- five medical facilities,
- industrial enterprises,
- infrastructure at the Unit.City IT park,
- the Unit.Home residential complex.
This is not the first time the Dovzhenko studio has been hit; it previously suffered damage during a massive attack on the capital in July 2025.
The Oleksandr Dovzhenko Film Studio released footage of the aftermath, stating:
“Windows blown out. Asphalt torn up. Heating main and sewer system damaged. These are the consequences of last night’s shelling of the O. Dovzhenko Film Studio.”
Emergency crews are already on site working to repair the damage and restore normal operations.
