Recently, a Russian soldier decided to radically change his life and crossed the border into Norway, where he requested asylum. The man explained this by saying that he no longer wants to fight, particularly in Ukraine. The Russian was detained in the next border village of Grense Jakobselv in the Finnmark region after he illegally crossed the border.

«He crossed the border on foot, climbing over a fence. When he found himself on Norwegian territory, he approached the local authorities on his own,» said the Russian's lawyer, Trond Pitt.

It turned out that the detained former soldier of the Russian army had participated in hostilities in Ukraine. However, he decided to change his path and ask for asylum in Norway, definitively renouncing participation in wars.

Ukrainians can breathe easy: The European Union has decided to extend the Temporary Protection Directive for our citizens. This important decision will allow Ukrainians to retain the ability to receive support in Europe for many more years, which will undoubtedly affect the improvement of their status and security.
