As a result of a massive Russian strike on Poltava, which occurred on the night of Friday, October 3, the St. Nicholas Church of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) was damaged. This was reported by 'Hlavkom' with reference to the rector of the church, Fr. Oleksandr Dediukhyn.
As a result of the night attack, half of the windows in the church were broken. Fortunately, there are no reports of injuries. The rector noted that the parishioners remain optimistic: 'We continue to rejoice in Jesus Christ. We will repair everything, but for now, we will cover it with plastic,' added Fr. Oleksandr Dediukhyn.
Attack on Poltava and the situation in the region
The attack on the church occurred in the context of a general strike on the Poltava region, which also led to damage to energy infrastructure and industrial enterprises.
On the night of October 3, the Poltava region was attacked by Russian forces with cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. During the efforts to eliminate the consequences of the shelling, the State Emergency Service rescuers were hit by a repeated missile strike. Fortunately, none of them were harmed in this incident.
