Disqualified European Wrestling Champion for Doping

The European wrestling champion, Russian Irina Ologonova, has been disqualified for 18 months for violating anti-doping rules. This was reported on the website of the International Doping Testing Agency (ITA).

The doping sample taken from the Russian on November 8, 2014, at the European Nations Cup in Moscow contained a banned substance, tuaminoheptane.

The anti-doping panel of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS ADD) has imposed an 18-month ban on the 35-year-old Ologonova, effective from April 24, 2024, to October 23, 2025. Her results from competitions between November 8, 2014, and July 8, 2015, have been annulled, and the athlete has been stripped of her medals and prize money.

Thus, Ologonova has been deprived of the gold medal at the 2015 Russian Championship. The Russian may appeal the decision to CAS.

The Russian is a three-time silver medalist at the World Championships and has also won silver and bronze medals at the European Championships.

Freestyler's Appeal to the International Federation

Russian freestyler Anastasia Tatalina has appealed to the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) requesting to be allowed to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games. She is a member of the Russian military club CSKA, linked to Russia's military involvement in the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

"I represent Russia, and I was proud when President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin) sent me a telegram after winning the World Championship," Tatalina noted in April 2022.

Tatalina liked a post with the military slogan "We do not leave our own behind."

During the competitions in wrestling and freestyle, the intriguing fate of the athletes revealed new circumstances. Participation in such sports remains a daunting task for athletes, requiring adherence to anti-doping rules and consideration of many other aspects influencing society.
