Russian Forces Receive New Batch of T-90M Proryv Tanks from Rostec

Нові танки T-90M Proryv поповнили арсенал російських військових.

Delivery of Tanks to Occupying Forces

Rostec, Russia’s state-owned defense conglomerate, has handed over another shipment of T-90M Proryv, T-80BVM, and T-72B3M tanks to its occupying troops. These vehicles have been upgraded based on lessons learned from combat operations. The T-90M, the most advanced mass-produced tank in the Russian arsenal, is a deep modernization of the Soviet-era T-72B. However, it retains critical vulnerabilities, including a slow reverse speed and a compact layout that can trigger ammunition detonation upon impact.

The T-80BVM and T-72B3M models are built on refurbished Soviet-era stockpiles. They are equipped with modern Sosna-U sights, enhancing their battlefield performance. These upgrades aim to improve the operational effectiveness of the equipment in combat zones.

Victory Day Parade

Moscow held its annual Victory Day parade on May 9, which lasted just 45 minutes. Notably, the event featured no display of military hardware, making it one of the shortest parades in recent years. This shift underscores changes in the country’s military policy and the circumstances shaping such public demonstrations.

The transfer of new tanks to occupying forces highlights Russia’s ongoing efforts to bolster its military capabilities, despite the equipment’s known shortcomings. Modernizing older models may reflect resource constraints and a drive to maximize existing inventories. Meanwhile, the reduced display of hardware at the parade could signal strategic adjustments and the challenges Russia faces in the current military landscape.

The recent transfer of upgraded tanks underscores Russia's ongoing military enhancements, which contrasts sharply with the shortened Victory Day parade that notably lacked military displays. This shift in public demonstration reflects the broader strategic adjustments and challenges faced by the Russian military in the current geopolitical landscape.
