Estonian Intelligence: Russia is not preparing to attack the Baltic countries or NATO

Естонська розвідка: Росія не планує агресію проти країн Балтії чи НАТО.

Absence of Threats from Russia

The Estonian intelligence has not found any signs of Russia preparing to attack the Baltic countries or NATO. The general director of the Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service, Kaupo Rosin, stated that there is no threat from Russia in this direction. Despite European countries facing the risk of military confrontation with Russia, they are currently not prepared for open conflict.

Rosin pointed out that Russia respects NATO and is trying to avoid any open conflict at the moment. He also emphasized that there are no signs of escalation from Russia at this time.

“We do not see Russia intentionally engaging in any escalation today,” said Kaupo Rosin.
This information has become an important signal amid the ongoing war in Ukraine.

RUSI Conference and Situation Assessment

Moreover, during the RUSI conference, participants expressed the opinion that Russia is already preparing for direct conflict. Participants emphasized that the only way to deter is to demonstrate Europe’s readiness to win in case of war. At the same time, after the launch of the NATO mission, there have been no incidents reported with cables, which may indicate stability in the region.

This information from the Estonian intelligence could help reduce tensions in the region as it confirms the absence of active military threats from Russia. Meanwhile, the comments from the RUSI conference participants suggest that the perception of threat remains relevant, and European countries continue to discuss deterrence strategies. The situation remains dynamic, and future events may alter the risk assessment moving forward.
