Romanian gymnast Sabrina Voinea is facing allegations of assaulting her boyfriend, fellow gymnast Șerban Cotirlan, following his refusal to spend time with her. Voinea, a medalist at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, reportedly struck Cotirlan multiple times in the face with her fist. According to reports, the victim did not fight back.
Cotirlan, a member of Romania's men's national gymnastics team and Voinea's partner, has filed a police complaint regarding the incident. He also sought medical assistance from the National Institute of Forensic Medicine. Voinea, aged 19, has won two silver medals and one bronze medal at the European Championships.
President of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation, Ioan Suciu, commented on the situation, stating: 'We will not tolerate such behavior, which contradicts the values of sport and the principles of respect that we promote. We understand that complaints have been filed with the competent authorities, and we await more detailed information.'
