Ryanair’s route network in Warsaw sees major growth

The low-cost carrier Ryanair has unveiled plans to significantly increase flights to both Warsaw airports—Modlin and Chopin—for the winter 2026–2027 schedule. Adding 12 new routes will bring the total number of Warsaw connections to a record 46. This expansion is expected to drive combined passenger traffic at the two airports to 4 million travelers annually.

At Modlin Airport, Ryanair will station two additional aircraft, raising its based fleet there to eight planes. As a result, Modlin will serve 30 routes, including five brand-new destinations. Meanwhile, the route network at Chopin Airport will expand to 16, with seven of those being new additions.

Shifts in Ryanair’s strategy

Ryanair has also announced an expanded flight program from Bratislava, but at the same time, it decided to cut back on flights to Greece. This reflects a strategic shift as the company seeks to optimize its services in a competitive aviation market.

By broadening its Warsaw network, Ryanair is poised to intensify competition in Poland’s airline market, ultimately benefiting passengers through greater flight availability and choice. The projected rise in annual passenger numbers to 4 million underscores strong regional demand for air travel, a key driver of economic growth. The reduction in Greek routes, on the other hand, suggests a reorientation toward more profitable destinations, responding to changes in demand and the competitive landscape.
