Ryanair Reduces Winter Flight Schedules
Due to increasing fuel expenses, Ryanair has announced a reduction in the frequency of its winter flights. This season, the airline will operate 435 routes, introducing three new destinations from Stansted Airport alongside 18 additional new routes from other UK airports. At the same time, Ryanair is exploring the possibility of reallocating aircraft to Italy and Scandinavia, where aviation fees are comparatively lower.
Following these adjustments, Ryanair has lowered its annual passenger forecast, reflecting the cutbacks in winter services. Ticket prices have also seen an upward trend since August 2026. CEO Michael O’Leary commented on the situation:
“Everyone will be reducing capacity this winter as we face much greater dependence on oil prices from winter through summer 2027 compared to before summer 2026.” - Michael O’Leary

Notably, Singapore Airlines was named the world's best airline at the 2026 Skytrax Airline Awards, based on a global passenger survey conducted between September 2025 and August 2026, which included responses from travelers of over 100 nationalities and assessed more than 325 airlines.
The fuel price surge is forcing airlines across the board to rethink their strategies and business models. Ryanair’s decision to cut routes may affect competition in the low-cost airline market, potentially allowing rivals to capture freed-up market share.
