Shakhtar's Updated Europa Conference League Roster

In preparation for their European campaign, Shakhtar Donetsk has submitted an updated squad list for the UEFA Europa Conference League, confirming the departures of players Marian Farina and Khusrav Toirov. This move is seen as a strategic step to streamline the team ahead of the continental competition.

Khusrav Toirov, who joined Shakhtar in the 2022/23 season, made only two appearances for the senior side. Marian Farina, with eight matches for Shakhtar, spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Metalist 1925 Kharkiv. Both players have already secured moves to new clubs:

  • Marian Farina has transferred to Kudrivka
  • Khusrav Toirov has moved to Istiklol (Dushanbe)

Future Ambitions

Shakhtar's head coach, Arda Turan, has set his sights on winning a European trophy and is counting on Prosper Oba and Lassina Traoré to deliver in the Conference League playoffs. Diego Arroyo has also been removed from Shakhtar's Conference League squad. These roster adjustments highlight the club's active transfer policy and its ambition to succeed on the international stage. Shakhtar, a club historically dominant in Ukrainian football, is now navigating the challenges of competing in Europe while being displaced from its home city due to the ongoing war.

The departure of players who saw limited playing time suggests the club's intent to bring in fresh talent and improve performance. This could significantly shape the team's plans as they prepare for their upcoming international fixtures.
