Shakhtar Donetsk Extends Dmitry Kryskiv's Contract

Ukrainian football club Shakhtar Donetsk has secured the long-term future of midfielder Dmitry Kryskiv, signing him to a contract extension that runs until the end of 2030. This move is a significant commitment to a player who has become a core part of the team. Kryskiv, who joined the club's academy at age 16, made his senior debut for Metalist 1925 in Kharkiv before establishing himself at Shakhtar. The club's strategy of retaining homegrown talent is crucial for maintaining a stable core, especially given the ongoing challenges in Ukrainian football.

During his time with Shakhtar, Kryskiv has already contributed to significant success, helping the team win two Ukrainian Premier League titles and two Ukrainian Cups. His importance is clear, despite facing injury setbacks this season that twice sidelined him; he has still managed 10 appearances across all competitions. On the international stage, the midfielder earned his first cap for the Ukrainian national team in 2024 and has since played in three matches.

Conference League Squad Adjustments

In related squad news, Shakhtar has updated its roster for the UEFA Conference League, removing defenders Marian Farina and Diego Arroyo from the list. In a separate development, Shakhtar's Brazilian player Pedrinho has expressed openness to the possibility of playing for the Ukrainian national team, although he clarified that there have been no formal discussions about obtaining Ukrainian citizenship.

Securing Kryskiv's services until 2030 underscores Shakhtar's focus on building a stable, competitive squad for both domestic and European competitions. This long-term planning, coupled with active roster management for European tournaments, demonstrates the club's adaptability and ambition as it navigates the current football landscape.
