Shakhtar crushed Poltava and guaranteed their championship
To secure the title prematurely, «Shakhtar» needed a victory over SC «Poltava». Marino Pушич's team accomplished the task, defeating their opponent by a score of 4:0.
The first goal was scored by the Donetsk team already in stoppage time of the first half. After a corner kick, Lassina Traore headed the ball to Dmytro Krytskyi, who opened the scoring.
In the second half, «Shakhtar» completely controlled the game and scored three more times.
Izaki Silva scored a double in the championship match
In the 55th minute, Izaki Silva took advantage of a mistake by Poltava's defender Vadym Pidlепич and doubled the «Miners»' advantage.
Just a few minutes later, the Brazilian scored a brace after an assist from Artem Bondarenko.
The final point in the match was set by Lassina Traore, who established the final score of 4:0 in the 67th minute.
Thanks to this victory, «Shakhtar» became unreachable for their competitors with three rounds remaining in the championship.
Shakhtar won the 16th title of champion of Ukraine
For the Donetsk club, this is already the 16th title of champion of Ukraine in history.
In terms of victories in the Ukrainian Premier League, «Shakhtar» is only behind Kyiv «Dynamo», which has 17 championships.
At the same time, «The Miners» moved to first place in the total number of domestic trophies in Ukraine - the club now has 40.
Shakhtar will play in the Champions League qualification
Victory in the UPL guaranteed «Shakhtar» participation in the Champions League qualification for the 2026/27 season.
After 27 rounds, the team has gained 66 points and is 11 points ahead of the nearest competitor - «Polissia».
