The Donetsk club 'Shakhtar' put forward an updated offer regarding the transfer of Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Mequi from 'Gremio'. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referring to Mix Vale.
Under the new terms, the Ukrainian club offers about 20 million euros, as well as bonuses for the player's performance and a percentage of any future resale. According to media reports, these terms meet the minimum requirements of the 'Gremio' management.
Interest in Mequi is also shown by some European clubs, including 'Chelsea' and 'Arsenal'.
Previously, 'Gremio' rejected Shakhtar's first offer of 15 million euros, while the player's clause is 50 million.
Gabriel Mequi's contract with 'Gremio' is valid until the end of 2027. In 2025, he made his debut for the club's first team, playing two matches in the Rio Grande do Sul state championship, and scored one goal in five matches in the Brazil U-20 championship.
In a match against Azerbaijan, the Ukrainian national football team played a draw 1:1. Goals were scored by Mahmudov (72 min., from a penalty) and Sudakov (51 min.).
Prior to that, the national team lost to France 0:2 in the qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Cup. The game took place at the stadium in Wroclaw, Poland.
During the crucial match against the French, Ukrainian fans showed their support for the national team by displaying a huge banner reading 'Fortress of Europe'.
After 'Gremio' rejected the first offer, 'Shakhtar' made a new proposal to Gabriel Mequi, approaching it with favorable conditions and advantages. Additionally, in the match against Azerbaijan, the Ukrainian national football team lost to France but demonstrated good play and fan support.
