Today, August 21, Donetsk's 'Shakhtar' drew in the first playoff match of the Conference League qualifying against the Swiss 'Servette', reports 'Glavkom'.
The match took place at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium in Krakow, Poland.
The guests opened the scoring already in the eighth minute, and after a corner kick, Lamin Fombu scored with a header. The 'miners' had several opportunities and made 24 shots on goal, but could equalize only in the second half.
In the 73rd minute, Valeriy Bondar scored the equalizer with a header after a corner kick.
'Shakhtar' fully controlled the game in terms of attacks and shots, while 'Servette' managed only two shots on goal, one of which was successful.
The return match will take place on August 28 in Switzerland.
Recall that 'Shakhtar' was unable to overcome the third qualifying round of the Conference League season 2025/26, losing to the Greek 'Panathinaikos' in a penalty shootout.
The Donetsk club began its European campaign from the first round, defeating Finnish 'Ilves' with an aggregate score of 6:0. In the second round, the 'miners' defeated Turkish 'Besiktas' and advanced to the third stage, where their opponent was 'Panathinaikos'.
