Ukrainian Security Service Takes Out Russian Operative 'Shaman' and Arrests His Female Accomplice in Donetsk Region

Співробітники СБУ нейтралізували російського агента та затримали його спільницю на Донеччині.

Female Russian Agent Captured, Militant Eliminated in Coordinated Operation

Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), working alongside units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), has detained a female Russian agent in the Donetsk region and eliminated the militant she was harboring. The fighter, known by the call sign 'Shaman,' had infiltrated the city of Lyman to conduct reconnaissance on Ukrainian defense positions, engaging in armed resistance against Ukrainian forces.

The agent, a local unemployed woman, agreed to provide shelter to the militant in her home. She was involved in adjusting Russian artillery strikes targeting Ukrainian military personnel in Lyman and surrounding areas. Under the pretext of taking walks, she gathered intelligence on Ukrainian troop locations and relayed this information to the militant, who then reported it to his command to coordinate shelling attacks.

The 'Shaman' fighter served in the 31st Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 67th Motorized Rifle Division, part of the 25th Combined Arms Army of Russia’s Central Military District. SBU officers had previously documented the activities of this hostile group and carried out measures to secure Ukrainian military positions near Lyman.

Legal Proceedings and Additional Arrests

SBU investigators have charged the detained woman under Article 111, Part 2 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, which covers high treason committed under martial law. She is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The comprehensive arrest operation was conducted by SBU personnel in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Separately, the SBU also announced the arrest of an IT specialist from Mykolaiv, suspected of working for Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) and preparing coordinates for missile strikes on Kyiv. The man was collecting data on Ukrainian military personnel and officials, and had recruited an IT expert from Odesa to assist him.

These events highlight the intensified efforts of Ukrainian security agencies to counter Russian agents and terrorists within Ukraine, particularly in active combat zones.

The detention of the agent and elimination of the militant underscore the critical importance of information security and the protection of military positions in modern warfare. The cooperation between the SBU and AFU in this case demonstrated the effectiveness of joint actions in preventing threats to national security.

In a related operation highlighting the ongoing threat from Russian operatives, the SBU has apprehended an IT specialist from Mykolaiv who was allegedly plotting for over a decade to facilitate a missile strike on Kyiv. This arrest underscores the extensive network of espionage and sabotage that Ukraine continues to combat.
