FSB Agent Captured in Kyiv
Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has dismantled a Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) spy network operating in Kyiv. In the operation, a 59-year-old businessman was detained. He was using his armored glass manufacturing business as a front to gather intelligence on Ukrainian defense contractors. The suspect has been formally charged with high treason.
Details of the Suspect's Operations
The Kyiv-based businessman produced armored glass for Defense Forces vehicles. His espionage activities involved collecting data on companies fulfilling defense contracts, including pinpointing the locations of their key workshops on Google Maps. According to the investigation, he planned to install covert mini-cameras with remote access capabilities on the premises of these strategically important defense firms.
During searches, SBU operatives seized the suspect's electronic devices, which contained evidence of his communications with FSB handlers and his contracts with the targeted companies. He is now in custody without the possibility of bail and faces a potential life sentence. In a separate but related security incident, the SBU and National Police also charged an 18-year-old woman from Kharkiv. She called an emergency line from Kharkiv on the night of February 22, reporting that two unidentified individuals had broken into a grocery store in Lviv.
