The Security Service of Ukraine checks the UOC (MP) monastery: children are educated in an underground school using Soviet textbooks

Управління безпеки України проводить інспекцію монастиря УПЦ (МП): в підпільному навчальному закладі навчаються діти за радянськими підручниками.

Inspection of the UOC (MP) monastery 'Holosiivska Desert'

The Security Service of Ukraine has begun an inspection of the alleged illegal activities of the UOC (MP) monastery 'Holosiivska Desert'. As part of the inspection, an underground school operating on the territory of the monastery in Kyiv was discovered. It is known that more than 60 children from the first to the ninth grade study at this school, and the teaching is carried out by 16 teachers.

The director of the underground school is Anna Bolgova. The school, named 'Prospect', started its activities in February 2025. The educational process uses textbooks published in 1966, raising concerns about the teaching methods. Music lessons are also held at the school, where children sing Soviet songs.

Statement of the Security Service of Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine notes that 'it is investigating possible illegal activities on the territory of the UOC (MP) monastery 'Holosiivska Desert' as part of a criminal proceeding'.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The State Service of Education Quality emphasizes that 'in the fourth year of full-scale war, the issue of compliance with legislation in the educational sphere, protection of children's rights, and prevention of any manifestations of anti-state ideology in the educational environment is a matter of national security'.

This situation indicates serious risks associated with the education and upbringing of children in Ukraine, especially under the current wartime conditions. The inspection of the monastery and the underground school may be an important step in ensuring compliance with educational standards and countering potential anti-state manifestations that may threaten national security. It is crucial that all educational institutions comply with current legislation and ensure the safety and well-being of children.
