New accusations from Georgia target the brutal head of Chechnya
The Security Service of Ukraine reported on September 1, 2025, that new evidence of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov's involvement in war crimes had been discovered. According to the obtained information, Kadyrov ordered his subordinates not to capture Ukrainian prisoners of war, but to kill them on the spot. This was instructed to the commanders of Chechen militants acting in collaboration with Russian occupiers on Ukrainian territory.
Moreover, Kadyrov decided to use Ukrainian prisoners of war as 'human shields' to protect his military facilities from Ukrainian drones. Such actions constitute serious violations of international law regarding warfare, which could have serious legal consequences for the Chechen leader.
Based on the collected evidence, the SBU informed Kadyrov of suspicion under the first part of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which stipulates responsibility for war crimes.
Recently, it became known that this is not the first case against the head of Chechnya. In 2022, the SBU already investigated Kadyrov's actions in the context of preparing for aggressive war and violating Ukraine's territorial integrity. The investigation is being conducted by the Office of the Prosecutor General to bring Kadyrov to justice for his crimes.
According to the latest investigation by the Security Service of Ukraine, Ramzan Kadyrov is the embodiment of a brutal human rights violator who is willing to commit any criminal acts to achieve his goals. He has become the target of international accusations and now faces serious repercussions from the international community.
