SBU uncovered the embezzlement of tens of millions in the procurement of rifles for the Armed Forces of Ukraine: details of the scheme

The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the Office of the Prosecutor General, uncovered a corruption scheme for embezzling military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The suspects in these actions have been charged with a crime amounting to more than 33 million hryvnias.

According to the investigation, the former director of the Ministry of Defense department and the head of a private enterprise organized a scheme of embezzlement that lasted during the procurement of rifles for the front. Non-fulfillment of contract conditions and misappropriation of funds contributed to extending the shadow turnover of more than 33 million hryvnias.

All arrested suspects have been informed of suspicion on two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. An examination of the acquired equipment is being conducted, and the investigation continues to hold all responsible parties accountable.
