Ukrainian Drone Strike Hits Key Russian Oil Terminal in Tuapse

Удар українських дронів по важливому нафтопереробному об'єкту в Туапсе.

Drone Attack Targets Russian Infrastructure

In a coordinated operation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) and its 'Alpha' Special Operations Center struck the oil terminal infrastructure at the port of Tuapse in Russia's Krasnodar Krai. This attack is part of Ukraine's ongoing campaign to degrade Russia's military logistics and fuel supplies. The assault resulted in significant damage to:

  • Deep-sea oil loading berths;
  • Pipeline infrastructure;
  • Storage tanks at the marine terminal's tank farm;
  • The Tuapse Oil Refinery.

A major fire was reported following the strikes.

Impact on Russian Military Capabilities

The targeted Tuapse Oil Refinery, owned by 'Rosneft', produces gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and feedstock for the petrochemical industry. The attack on the terminal occurred during the night of April 16, with local residents reporting drones flying over the city. Additionally, a multi-functional 50N6E radar station was hit in the operation.

In a separate action, the SBU, in collaboration with servicemen from the First Separate Center of Unmanned Systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, destroyed enemy fuel tankers near the temporarily occupied city of Luhansk. The adversary had accumulated freight trains loaded with fuel at railway stations in this region. Precision strikes were carried out on these hostile targets using Fire Point company's FP-2 drones.

The Security Service continues to deliver systematic strikes on Russia's oil refining infrastructure, which provides the enemy with resources, including financial means, to wage war against Ukraine. 'Cotton' will continue to burn at Russian refineries, as they are entirely legitimate military targets.

Informed source in the SBU

This strike forms part of Ukraine's strategic efforts to cripple the resources fueling Russia's military operations. Damaging oil refining infrastructure can severely disrupt fuel supplies to Russian forces, potentially hampering their battlefield operations. Such actions underscore Ukraine's proactive stance in countering Russian aggression and its effective use of modern technology to achieve military objectives.

As Ukraine intensifies its campaign against Russian energy infrastructure, another significant attack targeted the Shekharis oil terminal in Novorossiysk. This series of strikes underscores the strategic importance of disrupting fuel supplies to undermine Russia's military capabilities, further highlighting the ongoing conflict's impact on critical infrastructure.
