Suspect Apprehended on Treason Charges
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained a 17-year-old technical college graduate in Ivano-Frankivsk, accusing her of committing treason for the Russian Federation. The suspect was allegedly conducting reconnaissance on the Burshtyn Thermal Power Plant and other energy facilities to prepare for a new wave of missile strikes targeting the energy infrastructure of the Prykarpattia region. She has been formally notified of the suspicion and faces up to 10 years in prison. This arrest highlights the ongoing targeting of Ukraine's critical energy grid, which has been a primary focus of Russian attacks since the full-scale invasion began.
According to the investigation, the detained individual was recruited by Russian military intelligence through an online job advertisement. Her primary target was the Burshtyn TPP, near which she conducted surveillance by photographing the perimeter and assessing the facility's technical condition. Additionally, the girl gathered intelligence on a key substation in Ivano-Frankivsk. To avoid detection, she used taxis for transport and then proceeded on foot, documenting the objects and recording their precise geographic coordinates.

She was apprehended near a strategic facility while using a smartphone to collect data. A subsequent search led to the seizure of four additional mobile phones. SBU investigators have charged her under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which pertains to treason committed under martial law. She is currently in custody without the right to post bail.
In a separate operation, the SBU's counterintelligence unit also reported the detention of a Russian agent in the Donetsk region who was involved in directing artillery fire on the city of Druzhkivka.
