Detention of an agent who spied on behalf of Russian and Belarusian special services

The Security Service of Ukraine detained an agent who spied on behalf of Russian and Belarusian special services, coordinating attacks on energy facilities in Kyiv. The detention took place in the capital, where the perpetrator was observing power plants from the window of his own apartment. This agent, who is a local manual worker, was working for Russian and Belarusian special services, documenting the consequences of airstrikes by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on Kyiv.

Legal consequences and security threats

The detained individual has been charged under part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrator is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with asset confiscation. Comprehensive measures that led to the agent's detention were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.

This case demonstrates the activity of Russian special services in conducting reconnaissance and coordinating attacks on critically important facilities in Ukraine, which endangers state security. The detention of the agent is further confirmation of the scale of threats faced by Ukraine in the context of the armed conflict. Such incidents underscore the need to strengthen counterintelligence measures to protect national infrastructure and citizens.
